Transmission system is an important part of special machine, its kinematics and dynamics related to the drive itself and even the whole machine tool performance. In the increasingly fierce market competition, the traditional product development cycle of "design—physical prototype—test—modify" lost its vitality because it takes too long time. The application of virtual prototyping technology can not only improve the precision, but also it can shorten the product design cycle. In view of this, the paper of a special drilling machine transmission system study, conducted from various aspects of virtual prototyping technology based on dynamic simulation of a special drilling machine.First of all,in Pro/Engineer of three-dimensional parameters environment build part and sub-assembly models of the special drilling machine transmission, using sub-assembly models create a virtual prototype transmission system. This is a basis of the establishment of correct dynamic simulation model of virtual prototype.Secondly, in the MSC-ADAMS environment establish the special drilling machine transmission system multi-body mechanism dynamics simulation model of the complex gear transmission chains.Because simulation results with the theoretical simulation is unanimou,so that it is correct to the establishment of multi-body dynamics of virtual prototype simulation modelFinally, the collision theory was analyzed in MSC-ADAMS environment. Basing on the Hertz contact theory, gear contact force is derived simulation parameters formula. In the MSC-ADAMS environment,a pair of mesh gear of collision analysis was simulated, simulation results of the gear meshing force are consistent with theoretical calculations, which verifies the correctness of the calculation formula.
