At present,the printing orders become varieties,small batch and short leadtime.this trend makes the ratio that time for boot up and setup in the total productiontime increase.As a large number of automation and digital control have be used infolder by folder manufacturers abroad, the preparation time is reduced significantlyand the efficiency is improved greatly. Compare with overseas products, thoughhomemade folder also adopt PLC control, stakeout and control on-line, frequencyconversion timing, man-machine conversation touch-screen technology, dueing tohaving no folding cells'automatic before-hand collocating function, it takes a longtime to adjust and prepare the equipment and working efficiency is low. Soresearching on folders'automatic before-hand collocating theory haves actualmeaning for advancing folders'automatization degree and digital digree.Firstly paper analysises folding priciple and folding pattern of folder. Thisanalysis which based on the folding pattern be provided by JDF, is different to whichbased on folding method. The difference between them will be provided and so doeswhich between folding pathes and folding patterns.Then (paper) discusses the fesibility of folding pattern. Based on the researchabout folding pattern and principle,paper build a ralationship contact parrallel foldingmark and pattern group; Decompose complex folding pattern to parrallel modelaccording to the direction change of folding mark. On the foundation of studybefore,study the ralationship between two types of folding pattern and folder.And then discusses a question that how can we find out all of folding patternsand commonly used folding patterns of folder . Firstly finds out all folding patterns ofparallel unit group according to certain rules,remove some of them that have samefolding effect. Decompose folder to two types of parallel folding unit group andmuti-directions folding unit group, and study how many folding patterns are the twotpes have. As many folding patterns be used rarely,give a method to find out allcommonly used folding patterns(JDF difinition)of folder.At the end, we main concern optimization of folding unit group. In theproduction process, it will be meaningful to find out the best folding unit group ofsome folding patterns that be used commonly. This paper provide a method to solvethis problem and find out the best folding unit group of 85 types of commonly usedfolding patterns(JDF definition).
