Survival carbon emissions can reflect share level of the limited emission space and interpersonal fair carbon emissions right for the individuals in different regions. Therefore, this research should become an important part of the current carbon studies. Family and its members are the basic units of human society, so household carbon emissions are regarded as the assessment objects of individual emissions. The survival carbon emissions are the basic emissions of individuals or their families in order to meet their demands of the existence and development in a certain socio-economic conditions, which include the direct (fossil fuels and power emissions) and the indirect emissions, i.e. the energy consumption emissions embodied in consumer goods and services (food, clothing, medicine, education, transport and communication services etc.).By the means of field survey, IPCC reference method, IOA (Input-Output Analysis) and statistical methods of Geography (Correlation Analysis and Regression Analysis), the paper proposes characteristic and explains its influence factors of the survival carbon emissions in irrigated agriculture region, Hexi Corridor in Northwest China. From the angles of household total carbon emissions, household per capital carbon emissions, household per income carbon emissions and basic survival carbon emissions, the survival carbon emission indicator is proposed to further refine its characteristics. The coal core emissions structure, low individual emissions, high carbon intensity and basic survival emissions as well as increasing emissions demands in the future are found in the study region. By analyzing the influence factors (family size, household income, family member age structure, socio-economic level and geographic environment), their interactions between survival emissions and its factor are presented. Finally, the paper discusses the research on the possibly existing uncertainties of the survival emissions deeply.
