For the scurviness of mining environment, the security environment of mining system has been concerned by people.In china,coal mining is mainly underground mining. And it often accompany with gas explosion,flood and other accidents, so that countries suffer huge economic losses and the safety of workers underground are threaten.Although the country take the safety of coal production seriously, there are still many uncertain factors contributed to the accident. If the miners underground is automately tracked and positioned in real-time 24 hours a day, and the distribution of miners and operating information is mastered timely and accurately.Once an accidence occer, the distribution of the staff and their location can be checked immediately from the monitor computer, then a reasonable emergency evacuation and rescue routes can be formulated in accordance with these information. In this way the probability of accendent will be reduced substantially, the miners will be rescued without delay and the loss will be lower.System proposed in this paper can position and track the location of mine workers.Meantime it ensures the ground control station to be kept informed of the situation underground. According to master the location of the miners, work status and other information,managers can contact with workers underground, schedule and assign;The system can also improve work efficiency,keep the two-way communication and rescue in disaster situation. Besides it can provide the number of miners in monitor region, work interval, history recorder and real-time statistical reports, thereby the system can achieve efficient and safe management.This paper analyzed research situation and development of the domestic and international mine workers positioning system,introduced the characteristics of ZigBee technology,compared ZigBee with other wireless communication technologies, obtained advantages of ZigBee technology and used the ZigBee technology to the positioning system.This article constructed positioning system based on ZigBee wireless network.CC2420 RF chip and MCU C8051F340 was taken as core of system to make up identification card and card reader in order to achieve the wireless transmission of information.RSSI-based measurements and trilateration method were chosen for this system.Besides,we used distance difference localization algorithm to improve the positioning precision, which present a higher positioning accuracy.By combining this system with geography information system, monitor data and spatial data were integrated to conduct a comprehensive analysis and management,so as to achieve real-time display.
