The purpose of the present research is to modify the bamboo pulp fiber (fabric) by home-made HBP-NH2. Firstly, the structure and mechanical properties of modified bamboo pulp fiber (fabric) were studied, and then salt-free dyeing properties, anti-bacterial properties, anti-UV properties and wearability were researched. The structure and mechanical properties of the bamboo pulp fiber and fabric were influenced little by HBP-NH2 modification.Factors influenced salt-free reactive dyeing of the bamboo pulp fabric modified with HBP-NH2 were discussed, including concentration of HBP-NH2 solution, immersing temperature, time and liquor ratio and pH value. The optimum technology of modification was showed as follows: the bamboo pulp fabrics were treated with 3g/L HBP-NH2 solution at 20℃u nder 30min with pH value of 7.0 and bath ratio of 1:60. The modified bamboo fabric had higher uptake of reactive and direct dyes in the absence of salt while color fastness and levelness were similar compared to conversational dyeing. The modified bamboo pulp fabric has good antibacterial properties, the bacteria reduction of S.aureus and E.coli were as high as 89% or more, and also remained at around 88% after 20 times washing. Dyeing process has minimal impact on their anti-bacterial properties. The UPF values were increased from 8.16 to 18.18 which improved the bamboo fabric anti-UV protection.
