As one of the new polishing mold techniques, ultrasonic polishing is an effective technique for mold cavity processing. Ultrasonic polishing research concerns many such fields as electricity, control theory, mechanical dynamics theory, mechanical design and so on. The core principle of ultrasonic polishing is that the ultrasonic generator generates ultrasonic vibration and the vibration is transmitted to the horn through the transducer, and the horn amplifies the vibration amplitude, then the horn vibration drives the abrasives in abrasive suspension, the abrasives hit surface of mold to polish mold.Based on the study of principles of ultrasonic polishing and the problems existing in the ultrasonic polishing system, this thesis gives an introduction on the research and applications of ultrasonic polishing and the main study contents of the thesis are arranged as follows:(1) According to the model analysis of the process of ultrasonic polishing, mathematical model of ultrasonic polishing is established and a theoretical method for the study of ultrasonic polishing is presented.(2) The hardware system of ultrasonic polishing is designed, which describes the structure and function of the system; and then the parameters of the transducer and horn is studied and designed.(3) The main parts of the hardware system, including the circuit of ultrasonic generator and frequency tracing, is also designed and studied in detailed.(4) The experiment is carried out on a group of work-pieces through the designed polishing system, and comparison and analysis is done based on the experiment data. The effectiveness of the designed polishing system in mold polishing is verified and proved.Based on the above research on the ultrasonic polishing systems and application, this thesis established mathematical model of ultrasonic polishing, designed an hardware system and verified the effectiveness of the polishing system. This work enriches the research and application of ultrasonic polishing.
