In recent years, the rapid development of automobile industry, friction materials for automotive demand is also rising. At present, many new non-asbestos friction material of the overall performance has been greatly improved, but there are still many problems, not what kind of new non-asbestos friction material can fully satisfy the automotive industry development requirements. Excellent performance and thus develop new higher cost of non-asbestos brake pads at home and abroad of the main direction of scientific research institutions. But the use of the characteristics of low melting point metal sulfides, in his capacity as sintering agent, adding other additives sintering metal sulfides friction materials largely unreported.The issue uses S, Sn, Sb2S3 as sintering agent, steel fibers as the toughening agent, together with Fe3Al, Al2O3 powder by grinding agent, graphite, molybdenum disulfide lubricant pressure in the molding 360MPa, the sintering temperature is 500℃, preparation of metal sulfide ceramic friction material. Preparation of raw materials obtained by different sulfur content of metal sulfide ceramic friction material mechanical properties, friction properties and microstructure of comparison, to determine the metal sulfide ceramic friction materials in the best of S, Sn, Sb2S3 content ratio. The results for the metal sulfide ceramic friction materials S:Sn:Sb2S3 was 3:7:15 (wt%) relative performance is better when the compressive strength is 100.4 MPa, hardness is 61HBa.Determine the metal sulfide ceramic friction material composition formula, the difference in the molding pressure 280MPa,320MPa,360MPa,400MPa on the sample material is extruded in the sintering temperature is 500℃samples were sintered material, Then on the metal sulfide ceramic friction material performance under different forming pressure were compared. Experimental results when the molding pressure is 320MPa, the material has a relatively optimum performance, compressive strength of 106.6MPa, hardness of 69.2HBa.In determining the metal sulfide ceramic friction material forming pressure of 320MPa, then at sintering temperature 450℃,500℃,550℃,600℃of the samples were sintered material, and then the metal sulfide ceramic friction material at different sintering temperature performance compared. Experimental results when the sintering temperature 500℃, the best overall performance material. At this point the material compressive strength is 104.3MPa, hardness is 67.3HBa.Through the above analysis and discussion of experimental results, we have come to ceramic friction materials, metal sulfides sulfur content in the best match with the experimental preparation process:Raw formula S:Sn:Sb2S3 to 3:7:15 (wt%), forming pressure 320MPa, sintering temperature is 500℃, the sintering of metal sulfides from the mechanical properties of ceramic friction material best. Friction coefficient of friction material has been consistent with the requirements of a light car, just wear too large, which also illustrates the preparation of metal sulfide ceramic friction material of the preparation process could be improved, need to further improve its overall performance, in order to meet the practical applications.
