Float-glass technology has become the most advanced one within many production methods since the emerging of mechanism flat glass. The penetration and level of development of the float forming process has become an important indicator that measures a country's technological level of flat glass in the world nowadays. For decades, many countries and organizations have invested large numbers of manpower and material resources in researching float-glass technology, and have got great success. But because of foreign technical blockade and other reasons, there is great gap between domestic float glass technology and international advanced level. It is especially for the tin bath which is the key equipment of float forming process.The control of the structural parameters and process parameters in still rest on the level of the experience and manual adjustment. Depend on the production practice, this paper gradually deepening understand the characteristics of the float-glass process, use computer technology to simulate the complex glass forming process. It has important practical significance to find the regular between the key parameters which can affect the forming.Based on the study of float-glass forming and the actual production line of 650t/d in a glass factory from Wuhan, Hubei Province, this paper established a model of glass in tin bath, and used ANSYS to numerical simulate the temperature field of glass, studied the change of the flow and temperature field of glass. In the thesis I carried out many experiments on glass with different thickness, and analyzed the experiment data to summarize the rule of key parameters of the forming process and verified the correctness of the simulation model. To achieve the optimization and visual simulation, this paper finally designed analysis software SSFF of float glass forming process, and these relations would be useful to production.The forming process of float-glass was a complex viscoplastic deforming process with the coupling between heat and mechanics, so I omitted some petit factors and caught the most important ones in the float-glass forming process in the article. In the future, the study will combine the tin solution, shielding gas and glass to make up an integer tin bath model. This paper laid the foundation for the establishment of a set of float-glass model analysis system which includes the furnace, tin bath and annealing furnace. It hoped to research the float-glass technology with the use of computer, and make a contribution to promote the development of Chinese float-glass process.
