Melamine (MA) and primary alcohol (PA) were used as raw materials to synthesize melamine-primary alcohol (MA-PA). Because of high stability of the 1,3, 5-triazine ring which can bear harsh reaction conditions, good chemo selectivity and reaction controllability of three primary amine in MA structure, protect-deprotect or deactivation-activation steps during the course of aminated products synthesis were greatly reduced. In this paper, a series of novel aminated products such as melamine-lauryl alcohol (MA-LA), melamine-octyl alcohol (MA-OA), melamine-monometho xylpoly(ethylene glycol) (MA-mPEG) were synthesized under high-temperature and high-pressure conditions, and potassium hydroxide/activated carbon (KOH/AC) was selected as catalyst. The influences of temperature, time and catalyst of the reaction were studied by monitoring the course of reaction. Furthermore, the structure of aminated products was confirmed by FTTR,1HNMR, and fluorescence spectra. It can be summarized as follows:The long chain of alkyl and polyethylene glycol ether was grafted on the amino groups of melamine by select the suitable catalyst and carrier, and then the temperature and time and catalyst on the aminated reaction were investigated. The product was characterized by FTIR,1HNMR and fluorescence spectra. It was found that the aminated yield increased when reaction temperature was increased at lower than 200℃temperature range, moreover, the increase in KOH and little AC also could raise the aminated yield. The aminated reaction kinetics parameters were obtained via FTIR spectroscopy by tracing the change of strength of absorption bands for MA-mPEG prepared with the various reaction time at different temperature. It is found that the aminated yield is varied in the range of 26-70%,the reaction order is 1.5 and activation energy is 45 kJ/mol.At last, the fluorescence properties of melamine and its aminated derivatives were studied, and the complex reaction of melamine and its derivatives with metal ions in hydrochloric acid solution were investigated using three-dimension fluorescence spectrometry. The results showed that the fluorescence intensity of melamine in acidic medium was higher obviously than that of its aminated derivatives, and opposite in basic medium. The red shift of the spectra and gradual decrease of fluorescence intensity were observed with CHCL increased, while the red shift was not observed and fluorescence intensity of melamine was decreased gradually with CNaOH increased. The fluorescence spectra of aminated derivatives of melamine obtained maximum intensity at CNaOH 0.01 mol/L and minimum intensity at CNaOH O.OOlmol/L. The change of the spectra were observed in the presence of Cu2+ and Pb2+, but were not observed in the presence of Ni+, Co2+, Mn2+, Ca2+. Melamine and its derivatives can bind with Cu2+ and Pb2+ at the ratios. In this paper, melamine and primary alcohol were synthesized melamine-primary alcohol under high-temperature and high-pressure conditions by using KOH/AC catalyst. The method is simple and easy operation, the aminated yield is high. The aminated reaction kinetics parameters were obtained via FTIR spectroscopy by tracing aminated reaction. The effect of substituting group on melamine have also been studied by using fluorescence spectra, and the complex reaction of melamine and its derivatives with metal ions in hydrochloric acid solution were investigated using three-dimension fluorescence spectrometry.
