Rheological properties is the most important manufacturing characteristic for polymers. Test and understand the material rheological properties, which can give introduction to the polymer manufacturing process. It helps mold design, also optimize, improve products quality and performance. It is indispensable physical parameters which is significance for theoretical and processing application.In the injection process, many parameters will influence the rheological of polymer. The testing result from capillary rheometer has the difference from the real process. It is not sufficient completely to fit for the industry requirement. In this case, the melting of materials of on-line rheometer is given directly by the injection machine screw, which is different from the capillary rheometer. The advantage is to eliminate the error which is caused by the thermal and stress processes different between the capillary rheometer and real flow. The data will be more accurate. In this project, the research work had been developed in the following areas:1.Develop data acquisition and signal transmission system of on-line rheometer. Through the connection between data acquisition module and computer, complete on-line rheometer coerceion and data acquisition systems2. On-line test PP, HIPS rheological properties, compared and calibration with the capillary rheometer, to prove the feasibility of on-line rheometer.3.Test the rheological properties of LDPE, HDPE, ABS which are commonly used plastic material and analyze the results.
