The structure of high performance CNC machine tool is more and more complex as rapid development of industrial computer technology. How to detect these systems failures rapidly and timely becomes one of the most concerned problems. Remote monitoring and diagnosis is an effective way for machine tool monitoring. It can monitor and diagnose machine tool by collecting signals, sending signals to the remote server and analyzing them. But it needs abundant signals for machine tool monitoring. The processing and transmission of these signals is the bottle-neck of machine tool remote monitoring and diagnosis especially machine tool has fault. So, effective compression and processing to signals is the key problem of the whole monitoring system and the basis of the life prognosis.This article researches on how to compress signals effectively and accurately in the whole remote monitoring and diagnosis system to ensure that signals can be transmit and process rapidly. Remote monitoring and diagnosis system for machine tool includes all kinds of state parameters. How to transmit these signals is the most important problem. But we do little research on it currently.Paper first does research on the subject, background, significance and the current situation of the research, proposes the whole framework of remote monitoring and diagnosis system. Analyzes characters of signals and proposes the necessity of signal compression. Then proposes different algorithms for different signals, compress pressure, temperature with BS-PLOT compression algorithm and vibration signals with wavelet transform which improves the effectiveness, safety and integrity of data transmission. At last, analyzes signals sampled by field fault diagnosis instrument and designs remote monitoring and diagnosis software for CNC roller grinding machine tool based on mixed programming of VC#.NET and MATLAB.At the end, paper sums up and puts forward a number of future studies and prospects of remote monitoring and diagnosis system for CNC grinding machine tool.
