As we known, the more widely plastics are used, the higher the requirements about the capacities of the coating are, and the aluminum coating gradually gets people's attention because of its metalline polish and ornamental capability. But the usage of aluminum coatings is restricted because of some defects such as low gloss degree, bad wearability and solvent resistibility, the investigation emphases comes to be a new and special aluminum coating—the mimic plating silver coating. How to prepare excellent and unpolluted mimic plating silver coating gradually becomes the investigative purpose.This paper was aiming at preparing a kind of mimic plating silver coating with high gloss degree, good solvent resistibility and wearability. First of all, cellulose acetate butyrate (CAB), the important component in the mimic plating silver coating, was grafted to be modified by acrylate and styrene. The result indicated that:the graft percentage and the capacity were mainly influenced by the monomer. During the research range in this paper, because methyl methacrylate (MMA) had faint steric effect, the coating film's capability (gloss degree, wearability and solvent resistibility) was better than the CAB grafted by other monomers. In the reaction conditions, the graft percentage was higher when the monomers dripped off not directly but gradually. The initiator content and the monomer content also could influence the graft percentage and the CAB film's capability. When the initiator was 1.2%, MMA content was 50%, the reaction temperature was 90℃, the monomer dripped off in 2h, the reaction time was 5h, the graft percentage reached 33.4%. CAB modified gained better adhesion, water resistance, solvent resistance, gloss degree and hardness.The structure of the CAB after grafted was tested and analyzed. The FTIR,1H-NMR indicated that:CAB has been grafted by the monomer, and the DSC, AFM farther explained that CAB was grafted by MMA, not blended with PMMA. Basing on SEM and the microscope analysis, aluminum gained better orientation arrangement in the CAB grafted by MMA, and the conglomeration and stack seldom appeared.Secondly, this paper still studied the formula how to influence the mimic plating silver coating's capability. The result indicated that:taking modified CAB381-20 as basic resin, aluminum as paint,20%A-37 as aluminum arrangement assistant agent, tri-P(Vinyl Chloride-Vinyl Acetate) as film-forming additive, after dissolved with co-solvent, the coating sprayed on ABS plastic board. According to the adhesion, water resistance, solvent resistance, gloss degree and stability, the basic ratio was that:paint/resin is 0.65, aluminum arrangement assistant agent content was 1.3%, film-forming additive content is 2.5%. In that condition, the mimic plating silver coating's gloss degree achieved to 187.8°, solvent resistance achieve to alcohol wiping 40 times, eraser wiping 40 times.
