Cellulose is the most abundant substance in nature,cellulose and cellulose derivatives have many applications.As a cellulose derivative,cellulose acetate butyrate(CAB)has the great advantages of weather resistance,water resistance and metal flake orientation and so on;cellulose acetate butyrate can be used for coating of various materials.However,cellulose acetate butyrate needs to be dissolved in organic solvents before used,which will cause great harm to the environment.Therefore,there is great significance and market prospect to synthesis cellulose acetate butyrate waterborne resin.In this paper,basing on the reactivity of hydroxyl groups on CAB molecules,we synthesized the waterborne resin of cellulose acetate cellulose through introducing the hydrophilic groups on CAB molecules by solution polymerization method,and the product could effectively improve the properties of cellulose acetate butyrate coating.Amount of monomer,initiator,the reaction time on the performance of cellulose acetate butyrate waterborne resin was investigated;the effect of the amount of curing agent on curing temperature and the effect of curing temperature on the properties of the resin also were studied.The optimal synthesis conditions of cellulose acetate butyrate waterborne were determined.The synthesized products were characterized by FT-IR,DSC and TG.The experimental results show that the amount of monomer has a great impact on the performance of the resin,when the reaction temperature of grafting is 90?,amount of initiator is 2.0%,the grafting reaction time is 4h,the conversion rate of monomers was 98.48%,the hardness of the paint film reaches 2H,adhesion reaches grades 2,the gloss reaches 83°,and wipes resistant to ethanol more than 35 times,the water solubility and storage stability of the resin is good,and the thermal stability was improved.The cellulose acetate butyrate waterborne resin was modified with modifying monomers VeoVa-9 and GMA by the method of solution polymerization.Amount of VeoVa-9 and GMA,neutralizer,neutralization degree,type of curing agent and amount of curing agent on the properties of the resin were studied,and the amount of VeoVa-9 and GMA on the curing temperature was also studied.The optimal synthesis conditions of waterborne cellulose acetate butyrate were determined.The synthesized products were characterized by FT-IR,DSC and TG.The experimental results show that the cellulose acetate butyrate modified by VeoVa-9 and GMA had obvious improvement in hardness,adhesion,gloss and ethanol resistance.The paint film hardness reaches 3H,adhesion reaches grades 0,and the gloss reaches 92°,and wipes resistant to ethanol more than 50 times,the water solubility and storage stability of the resin is good,the water resistance,weather resistance and thermal stability of the paint film are improved.The waterborne cellulose aluminum powder coating was prepared by using the cellulose acetate butyrate waterborne resin and treated aluminum powder.The effects of the amount of the aluminum powder and the cellulose acetate butyrate waterborne resin on corrosion resistance of the coating on cold-rolled steel were tested by potentiodynamic polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS).The corrosion potential,corrosion current density and EIS were calculated to discuss the anti-corrosion mechanism of the coating.The experimental results show that the resin can improve the metal's ability to resist corrosion by metal flake orientation of CAB;and the corrosion resistance of the as-prepared coating varies with the different amount of the aluminum powder.Within a certain range,the coating had the lowest corrosion current density,the highest corrosion potential and the greatest polarization resistance when the amount of aluminum powder was 30%.With the addition of aluminum powder,the corrosion mechanism was also changed from the corrosion of iron to aluminum,and the aluminum powder plays a role of sacrificial anode to protect the cathode.
