The paper mainly introduces the development and research of WEDM's (Wire cut Electrical Discharge Machining )control system, analizes the factors that affect the machine tool technology index, describes the numerical control system software design ideas and rotation,symmetry,reverse cutting algorithms, discusses application of taper machining algorithm in the machine tool in detail.The control system for WEDM is composed of software and hardware. The part of hardware includes keyboard driver circuit, LCD display circuit, memory interface circuit, stepping motor drive circuit, short circuit detection circuit, power brown-out detection circuit, pulse power. Software contains drivers, file system, interpolation algorithm, speed-up and speed-down control, tool compensation, the current track, continuous maching after power on and various enhanced algorithms.The improvement and innovation are made mainly in followling aspects: display trajectory dynamically, enrich man-machine interactive function of the system and facilitate operator's understanding of the current machining status, increase function in rotation, symmetry, reverse cutting to reduce the programming workload of the operator and improve machining efficiency, develope a set of taper machining algorithm, integrate constant and variable taper machining, solve the taper machining problem of workpiece with different surface shape between top and bottom, complete machining parameters conversion. Various algorithms can be used in CNC Systems whose controllers are MCU, IPC and so on.This article tries to simplify the hardware design. Functions can be realized by software as much as possible.
