The IPCC Fourth Assessment Report has been pointed that more than 90% possibility of global warming caused by human activity. Researches found that with the rapid development of socio-economic and improved living standards, energy consumption of residents growing day by day, carbon emissions of residents on the contribution of CO2 emissions should not be overlooked.Cities are centers of population and the center of energy consumption, and play an increasingly important role in the consumption of carbon emissions. Shanghai is one of the largest cities with the largest population density, the most active economic, and the most energy consumption. This paper studied Shanghai urban and rural residents energy commodity consumption goods and non-energy commodity consumption goods and services. Carbon emissions of residents consumption were accounted and analyzed use carbon emission factors method and the improved input - output model method. The results showed that: Shanghai's residents consumption carbon emissions caused by energy goods and non-energy goods and services increased year by year. See from the perspective of urban and rural areas, carbon emissions of residents consumption of Shanghai is mainly caused by the consumption of urban residents, and the consumption ratio of total carbon emissions increasing in recent years, more than 90%. From the view of energy commodities, non-energy goods and services, non-energy commodities and services carbon emissions is a major source of carbon emissions. The ratio of non-energy commodities and services carbon emissions in total consumption carbon emissions remained 80%. Exploration on the influence factors of carbon emissions shows that: Economic factors, social factors and technical factors have a certain extent influence on carbon emissions. Which, social factors, is the main influence factor of carbon emissions, and contributed the most carbon emissions. The conclusion of this article to provide a theoretical basis for carbon emission reduction measures for the relevant department of Shanghai.
