Studying on the on-line dynamic balancing of high-speed motorized spindle quickly is one of the main researchdirections in the domestic motorized spindle technology. One motorized spindle with auto-balancing head has been designed in this paper, which is used to solve the imbalance and vibration under the condition of high speed. Also both the running accuracy of motorized spindle and the production efficiency will be improved.The main contents of this topic are as follows:(1) Not only the basic parameters and the structure layout of motorized spindle have been studied, but also the correlation theories of the rotor balancing have been analysised, both of which provides a theoretical basis for the structural design.(2) According to the typical milling process parameters, the cutting force of the spindle has been calculated. By choosing the spindle motor, the toolholder, the bearings and the bearing lubrication system of the motorized spindle structure, as well as the determination of the reasonable overhang and span, the detailed designs of the main parameters of the spindle system are completeed.(3) The difference between the spindle of this topic and the general spindle is:The automatic balancing head installated on a spindle. Therefore, according to the principle of the auto-balancing head putted forward by Jiang Hong-Yan, the balance precision grade and the allowed unbalance are determined. The formulas for solving the quality of a counterbalance have been derived using analytical method. Finally the selection principle of the electromagnet and elastic element are discussed(4) The spindle is modeled through the software SolidWorks, and then analyzed by introduceing into the finite element simulation software. Using the finite element analysis method, the mode and the harmonic response characteristic of motorized spindle are analyzed. The analysis and calculationand about the maximum dynamic displacement are carried on in the case of high-speed, which happened at five locations, in the front of the spindle, bearings, balance heads, and the central of the rotor.The structural design of the spindle is verified reasonablely.
