The tower equipments is a widely used quality-spreading equipments of equilibrium-grade. It is extensively applied to sections such as petroleum, chemical engineering and light chemical work...etc., because the tower equipment belongs to a non-standard equipments and usually need to be designed according to the requirements of production process .The current design software of plank type tower is mainly some that simulates large chemical engineering processes (like ASPEN PLUS, PROâ…¡, and HYSIM...etc.), for the calculation of most of oil refinings craft, it can get calculations results fit for practical production. However, this calculation process can not effectively combine with craft structure of equipment or graphing process; It can not analyze the adaptability of the simulating results of craftwork in a simple view nor is it convenient for the designer to go into fullaround and deep analysis and calculation with his own intention and comprehension. Besides, It still needs manual drawing of graphs on computer after getting the simulating results of craftwork. Generally speaking, it has a lot of work to do in the trial calculation and re-check calculation in the design of equipment and errors are very common, therefore, this tends to creat more work to do in the consulting of computer data and graph output. Therefore developed a fully functional, interchangeable and easy to operate the tower design software can greatly enhance the practical application of engineering design efficiency and design quality.Th is paper discusses the function requirement, system analysis, system design and system realization on tower CAD, studies how to analize the software with the Object-Oriented Technology.It also proposes the prototype, builds Object-Oirented Analysis model (OOA) and Object-Oriented Design model (OOD) using OMT(Object Model Technology). At the same time, it studies problems in tower CAD, sets up many open independent shared databases. on this basis it develops the parts system have the advantage of code high reusing, easily being understood, maintained, changed and expanded with Visual Basic on the platform of WindowsXP/2000.This software combines CAD with design process through ActiveX Automation and achieved integrity from calculation of basic craftwork structure designing to the output of spare parts fitting graph of tower plank and can be used not only to design new tower but also to check and reform the design of the old tower. The computed result has proved that this software is actual and dependable. In short, this software is good tower design software with advantages of dependable result, good universality, simple operation and friendly interface.
