The Tower CAD (TCAD) is the combination of traditional industry and information technology. Techniques on CAD(Computer Aided Design) have been widely applied in many fields of our society after many years'widespreading. The result proves that the application of CAD can increase productivity obviously.But application of CAD on pressure vessels isn't widespread because of its particularity. Towers are widely used in chemical industry, petrolic industry and other industries, and are of great influences on investment and manufacturing efficiency. It is necessary to develop a CAD software on tower.This paper discusses the function requirement, system analysis, system design and system realization on tower CAD, studies how to analize the software with the Object-Oriented technology. It also proposes the prototype,builds Object-Oriented Analysis model (OOA)and Object-Oriented Design model (OOD) using OMT(Object Model Technology). At the same time, it studies problems in tower CAD, sets up many open independent shared databases on material capability, standard parts and materials. It calculates tower stresses with an optimal method of from part to whole, on this basis it develops the parts system have the advantage of code high reusing, easily being understood,maintained,changed and expanded with Visual C++6.0 on the platform of Windows2000.This paper advances a valid solution to generate the assembly drawing, designs an algorithm to clean covered lines using parametering method with ObjectARX. The TCAD also designs the module of tray design, it -realizes that designs the tray automaticly. TCAD integrates functions such as structure design, stress checking, document compiling and assembly drawing generating, and can greatly simplify the work of designer and improve their efficiency.
