With the development of science and technology, the CNC obtained the widespread application the field of mechanical processing and daily life. As an important part of manipulator, tool radius compensation is already becoming one of the focuses of research field on CNC. Tool radius compensation includes the design of the tool path, the compensation of tool geometric parameters and the logic processing.We present two kinds of tool radius compensation algorithm in-depth study, base on the basis of the design at home and abroad CNC system. This paper sums up the advantages and deficiencies of two algorithms, and design a new tool radius compensation algorithm based on this. The main work of the thesis could be summarized as follows:Firstly, the paper analyzes the numerical control system. The thesis introduced the software and hardware design proposal of CNC. The processing procedure parsers have been introduced weightily.Secondly, the two kinds of tool radius compensation algorithm"Type B tool radius compensation algorithm"and"Type C tool radius compensation algorithm"have been researched. This paper presents a new algorithm for the tool radius base on the analysis of their respective advantages and disadvantages. The new algorithm inosculated the merit of the two tool radius compensation algorithm.Thirdly, The new tool radios compensation algorithm has been realized.Using the representation of the directed geometric elements, here are lines and circles, to solve the problems of the tool compensation of CNC system. This dissertation gives the storage formats of the directed line and circle and uses them to describe the tool path. In order to design and implement tool compensation expediently, it also gibes the computing formulae of intersection between two directed geomentric elemnets, such as two lines, line and circler and two circles.Finally, The new tool radius compensation algorithm has benn realized by software, and the performance of the new algorithm is demonstrated.
