China's heavy oil resources are widely distributed and largely reserved. With the recoverable conventional oil reserves dwindling, development and utilization of heavy oil resources is becoming more and more important. But the viscosity of heavy oil is high and the flow of it is poor, this directly affect the costs and benefits of heavy oil exploitation, and also bring a lot of inconvenience to mining and transportation. In this paper, for the characteristics of heavy oil,we took advantage of the ultrasonic which is one of the physical methods to reduce the viscosity of crude oil. The technology is characterized by less investment, simple operation and non-polluting. On the basis of acoustic theory, combined with lab experiments and theoretical derivation, the dissertation presents a thorough study of the mechanism of ultrasound's effect on viscosity reduction. In the process, the ultrasonic cell pulverizer and a variety of ultrasound machines were acted on the oil to explore the influences of multielement (such as ultrasonic frequency, intensity, action time, temperature, water content and so on) on the effect of crude oil viscosity reduction. Finally, we analyzed the data, optimized the main technological parameter according to the results of orthogonal test and given a reasonable work program theoretically. When the frequency is 20kHz, the sound intensity is 50W/cm 2, the reaction time is 25min and reaction temperature is 30℃, viscosity reduction effect is best. This topic also compares the viscosity reducing effect of ultrasonic treatment, chemical method, as well as sonochemical method. It also proves the existence of synergies between ultrasonic treatment and chemical method. When we combine ultrasonic treatment and chemical method, the visicosity will be reduced even larger, and significantly better than simply use chemical agent. In addition, this method also saves the amount of chemical agent,it'll be able to have a good applicational prospect. In a word, theoretical studies and lab experiments have both showed that it is possible to reduce the viscosity of crude oil when the ultrasound has a reasonable intensity and frequency.
