Among the schedule and operation of multi-product pipelines, working out an effective distribution and operation program is one of its important contents. Although operating conditions are relatively stable, schedule should be changed to adapt the new transportation tasks.Based on the deep analysis of scheduling and operation of multi-product pipelines, the compilation methods, basic principles and basic steps about products pipelines scheduling were concluded. A model that satisfies hydraulic regime, operational and mixture constraints was set up to describe the automatic distribution scheduling of products pipeline. In order to keep the transportation stable, the delivery principle was that products to an off-take station were unloaded continuously for first priority and for a short time secondly. A mathematical model of optimal operation condition was developed by employing the principle of minimization of the power consumption and the mixture losses. Two-layer nesting method was used to solve the model, whose principle is to calculate all possible injection flowrate planning as outer layer nesting, and to optimize pump allocation planning as inner layer nesting by dynamic planning method, and then total operational cost is computed. According to the model and calculation method put forward, a corresponding software has been programmed using Fortran language in Windows XP environment. Calculations had been carried out for Luozhengzhu and Jihan multi-product pipelines by using the software. Computational results include: batch injection schedule of the initial station, batch delivery schedule of the intermediate station, pump allocation plan, the chart of pressure distribution in the pipeline, mixed oil quantity and the chart of mixed oil concentration distribution. Results are available for the prediction of multi-product pipeline scheduling and operation.
