Flexible Pipe Reel Drive Systems (FPRDS), one of the most essential equipments in offshore oil exploration area, is used to drive flexible pipe reel for the purpose of releasing and recycling hose.The research subject originates from the project of COOEC "Research on FPRDS in deepwater". This thesis focuses on the overall design of FPRDS through the in-depth analysis and research on foreign-related technology.Widely used methods and equipments of hose laying, the features of FPRDS in the world are summarized in this paper. The general scheme of the AFAT is introduced according to the technical requirements, mechanical structure is also designed and the three-dimensional structure model is established, thus verify the feasibility of structural design.The key structures of FPRDS are studied including research on the flexible pipe mechanical characteristics and the kinematics simulation of the clamping mechanism completed. The finite element analysis of each important part is performed with the finite element analysis software.Dynamic contact of gear pair is emulated and the strength of the other main parts of the FPRDS are checked to ensure the reliability of structural design.Finally, on the basis of the structural design, the hydraulic and controlling system of FPRDS are researched and analyzed, hydraulic circuit of FPRDS is established and controlling system of PLC is adopted. Upper and lower computer-assisted control is also used in the controlling system of FPRDS.
