The Study On The Products Redesign Of Living Room Modular Cabinet Furniture

The 21th century's commerce and trade globalization, the frequent international business communication and the fast development of e-business made the competitive environment which furniture companies were facing with not as simple as it was before. The progress in manufacturing techniques, the keen market competition and the influence brought by network techniques made the whole industry into a mass, diverse, customization and quick response individualization time. To gain competition advantages furniture companies should devote themselves to products innovation. Among different kinds of innovation, the redesign innovation on the existing furniture products was a sharp weapon to satisfy products varieties and customization demand with low cost and fast research and development.Since both products redesign innovation and products modularity were key influencing factors in furniture companies management, this study took the panel visual wall units—living room modular cabinet furniture selling in the market, as an example. Products redesign strategies were took to guide the practical redesign. For the products redesign process, enginery expansion and function analysis with the rules of geometry-form and innovate-principle were utilized to make products redesign innovation fast and effectively.In the products redesign cases of this study, the users' potential demand got firstly by questionnaire statistical analysis. Then, the products characteristics and the directions which can be further improved were found by deconstructing the shapes of the existing products through function analysis, operation analysis and form analysis. Later, the new shapes of products were deduced by innovation principle. At last, the concept model was formed by computer aided design and showed as computer fictitious model.The research achievement of the study will help the public and scholars to understand living room modular cabinet furniture products and assist furniture designers do products redesign innovation design effectively and continuously. The research achievement is also a reference for the design of living room modular cabinet furniture products and for the products development design of related manufacturers.
