Activated carbon is an excellent adsorbent materials, it has many advantages, such as huge specific surface area, rich surface functional groups, fine chemical stability, sufficient mechanical strength, excellent acid and alkali resistance, heat resistance and so on. It use as adsorption,catalyst,carrier in many fields because of its advantages. Phenolic resin-based spherical activated carbon also has many advatages, such as high carbonization yield, better adsorption properties, so it has been received more attention by many researchers.The phenolic resin-based microsphere is made from the phenolic resin which was synthesized by emulsification method. Then the phenolic resin-based spherical activated carbon was prepared by the processes of carbonization and activation with phenolic resin-based microsphere. In this thesis, the influence of the structure of surface active agent, the amount of surfactant, stirring speed, dispersion ratio on the microsphere, carbonization and activation on the iodine value and methylene bule value were discussed. The spherical activated carbon was described by BET surface area measurement and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The results show that the average sphere diameter of the phenolic resin-based microsphere was 867.39μm, the average sphericity of phenolic resin-based microsphere was 99.32. The suitable sphericizing conditons were the amount of phenlic resin 8.0g, the amount of Span85 1.5g, stirring speed 300-400r/min, dispersion ratio 0.08, Solidifying temperature 130℃, Solidifying time 60min. The phenolic resin-based spherical activated carbon was made at the carbonization heating rate 2℃/min, carbonization temperature 850℃, carbonization time 60min and activation temperature 900℃, activation time 60min. Under optimum conditions, the iodine value and methylene bule value of phenolic resin-based spherical activated carbon were 1860.65 mg/g,275.87mg/g., respectively.There are little literature of both at home and abroad about the adsorpting of Printing and dyeing wastewater by spherical activated carbon. In this thesis, the Everacid Blue A-RL and Everacid Red A-RL were regarded as adsorbates; the phenolic resin-based spherical activated carbon was regarded as adsorbent. The adsorption & decoloration of Everacid Blue A-RL and Everacid Red A-RL dye by spherical activated carbon was investaged. It will be provided experimental basis about the raserch of spherial activated carbon adsorpting printing and dyeing wastewater. The dye molecule structure, the dye solution of initial concentration, the amount of phenolic resin-based spherical activated carbon, dye solutions of temperature and pH were disussed. The results show the decolored rate of Everacid Blue A-RL and Everacid Red A-RL dye solution was 100% when the Everacid Blue A-RL and Everacid Red A-RL dye solutions for the initial concentration were both 100mg/L, the volume of dye solutions was 50mL, the amount of phenolic resin-based spherical activated carbon was 0.3g, dye solution temperature was 25℃, the pH of Everacid Blue A-RL and Everacid Red A-RL dye solutions were 6 and 3-5 respectively.
