With the rapid development of information technology, tremendous changes have taken place in the field of industrial automation. The degree of automation and control requirement are continuously going up, traditional control systems theory has been difficult to competent, and therefore modern industrial process control system needs more advanced theoretical support. Fieldbus Control System (FCS) is a new generation wide distributed control system with network integration formed in such circumstances. In the field of industrial automation, fieldbus has become a major technology to exchange information between automation system and decentralized field devices.PROFIBUS is one of the fieldbus with wide range of application internationally, mainly used in process automation, manufacturing automation, building automation and other fields.Based on the process characteristics and requirements of Hongtong Coal Chemical and Preparation Plant of Luan Group, taking the linkages among coal preparation devices and process parameters as research subject, the purpose of this paper is to design dense medium coal preparation centralized monitoring system and process parameter automatic control system, implementing on-line testing, monitoring and stably controlling process parameters, ensuring preparation efficiency and enhancing the production management level to improve productivity, reduce labor intensity and significantly increase economic efficiency. By advanced hardware and software, automation instruments and modern network technology, this research comprehensively analyzes the production process and equipment facilities, mainly focuses on device centralized control, real-time monitoring of the operation of key equipment, the real reaction on scene process, the automatic adjustment of the suspending liquid density and other parameters. The main results of this study:1. The research is in the process framework of heavy medium coal preparation technology, using IPC, PLC, sensors and actuators as hardware platform, programing control procedure and developing configuration screen with SIMATIC Step7 software and SIMATIC Wince configuration software, integrating the electromechanical equipment control system, eventually a complete monitoring and control system is formed;2. The exchange of information is achieved between hardware devices with Profibus and Modbus;3. The automatic control of Suspension density, level and Cyclone inlet pressure is realized with a variety of automated monitoring and control instruments and communication technology; 4. A study is made on adaptive control, fuzzy control, neural networks, artificial intelligence and other modern control algorithms, and a more reasonable control method is explored that can fast and accurate detect and stably control liquid level of qualified media barrel;5. Data collection procedures are developed by VB Software, process parameters real-time display is realized on LED screen through DDE.The system can accurately and reliably complete control tasks, more convenient and intuitive than the traditional separated equipment monitoring system, it realizes equipment centralized control, automatic protection and alarm notice in dense medium coal separation workshop and production process parameters real-time monitoring and automatic adjustment, it also can alarm in time for non-normal operation. The system can real-time monitor and record the operation of the critical mechanical and electrical equipment in coal separation workshop, realizing automatic production and monitoring of the coal preparation plant. With the on-site commissioning, this system not only fully meets the requirements of the coal preparation plant, but also increases the unit labor productivity, reduces labor intensity, significantly increases economic efficiency.
