The working condition of hard rock roadheader is poor. Cutting head is the important parts of the roadheader, its performance affects the structural strength and service life of the roadheader directly. Mathematical model of cutting head is established based on the empirical formula for the load of single pick. Load changing pattern features of pick and cutting head are simulated when the cutting head face different rigidity rock, then FEM modal analysis is used on the key cutting parts and components to check the strength requirements.After this, the vibration math model is built by Lagrange formulation, simplified model of the cutting head is built, modal analysis and vibration curve are done by it. Finally, the optimization model is established, which take the hard rock roadheader's problems into consideration, and takes cutting dust quantity,specific density consumption,load fluctuation,quantity of pick consumption and production efficiency of roadheader as subject target function, and then regards structural parameters and moving parameters of cutting head which have a strong influence on four target functions described above as design variable, and fixes on constrained condition according to working conditions and practical experience of cutting mechanism, and uses chaos-particle swarm to optimize parameters of cutting head to get the best paraments of hard rock roadhead's cutting head.
