China is one of the first producers of textiles, while having the largest textile and apparel consumer groups in the world. Textiles import and export trade account for a pivotal role in the domestic and international economy. In recent years, with the improvement of people's living standards and the emergence of economic barriers, Eco-textile gets more and more concerns from people, while bringing new challenges to textile and clothing trade of our country. In the eco-textile testing, in addition to the banned azo colorants, extractable heavy metals and other relevant regulations, but also requires no fishy, musty, and other special smell in the product. For the assessment of textile odor, the method of sniffing is widely used at home and abroad. The method is a subjective evaluation method, which will be influenced by subjective factors such as personal experience, psychological and physiological effects in the evaluation process, having poor repeatability and making the evaluation results'credibility being questioned. Therefore, the need for exploring an objective & instrumental assessment of smell should be continued to desertification. The subject of using a half bleaching cotton fabric, two by two dipping rolling, drying at different times, to prepare fishy fabric samples of different levels. The samples were tested respectively by static headspace - gas chromatography - mass spectrometry and AIRSENSE PEN3 electronic nose and Alpha-MOS FOX4000 electronic nose. Study the feasibility of objective evaluation of detection methods on the fabric odor by analyzing the test results. The ultimately optimal conditions for static headspace - gas chromatography - mass spectrometry has been established as follows: DB-5 flexible quartz capillary column, the injection port temperature 120℃, splitless, column 60℃for 15min, helium carrier gas, flow rate of 0.6mL/min, headspace equilibration temperature 50℃, balance time 10 min, sampling time 1.0 min, mass spectrometry detector, detector temperature 250℃. The test results shows high linearity within the concentration range from 0.04g/L to 0.10g/L, and correlation coefficient R = 0.99597, the relative standard deviation is 4.18%.FOX4000 electronic nose has 18 inbuilt metal oxide sensors. By testing the finishing clothes of methylamine, dimethylamine, trimethylamine and mixture, the test results show that the electronic nose sensors have a certain kind of response to the samples. Discriminant factor analysis (DFA) could make the data points of parallel samples more concentrated, the data points between the groups more decentralized. Then this method is able to organize different conditions between different levels to achieve effective judgment of fishy smell fabric.PEN3 electronic nose has 10 inbuilt metal oxide sensors. By testing the finishing clothes of methylamine, dimethylamine, trimethylamine and mixture, the sensor response curve shows that NO.2 sensors has the highest response to amines, then is NO.6 & 8. Linear discriminant analysis (LDA) shows that PEN3 electronic nose can get a good distinction for not drying fabric swatches, fabric samples drying 1h and 2h drying fabric, poor distinction for more than 2h post-drying fabric swatches.
