Polysiloxane have many excellent performances, include waterproof, temperaturestability, resistance to ultraviolet, resistance to infrared radiation, and resistance to oxidativedegradation. However, due to the higher cost and lower intensity, the applications of themwere limited. Modified by organo-siloxane was one of the main methods of acrylic polymermodification. By this way, we can overcome the defects of styrene-acrylic emulsion. Andobtain new materials with excellent performances of organosiloxane and styrene-acrylicemulsion. Agitating with fillers and assistant agents, a heat-insulation with excellentperformance will be made, which is of great significance in the reduction of buildingenergy-consumption.In this paper, the main factors which had significant effects on the synthesis andperformance of organ-silicone-modified styrene-acrylic emulsion were investigated by usinguniform design method and the regression equations of the emulsion and coating majorperformance were established. The change of each target variable, include gelling rate(y1), themonomer conversion(y2) and water absorption(y3), while the mass ratio of hard monomer tosoft monomer(x1), emulsifier amount(x2), initiator dosage(x3) and silicone amount(x4) changed.The four independent variables for the synthesis of modified emulsion with better overallperformance were obtained by the multi-objective optimization using Monte Carlo method.The result was verified through experiments. Finally, the basic properties of modifiedstyrene-acrylic emulsion were tested. The structure of the emulsion and film werecharacterized by the particle size analysis and infrared spectra.A coating with good heat-insulation property has been prepared in this paper in thefollowing way: first, a Water-borne paste was prepared based on organ-silicone-modified ATOand hollow glass microsphere mixing with water and assistant agents, and then the finalheat-insulation was prepared based on the Water-borne paste and silicone modified acrylicemulsion mixing with assistant agents. Result of the determination under self-made devices ofheat-insulation effete testing indicated that the coatings had good heat-insulation effects. Thesmooth temperature difference of the air inside the box was22℃between clean sample andsample with mass fraction3.7%ATO and10.2%hollow glass microsphere.
