Since the 1950s, polysiloxanes modified with fluoroalkyls were widely used in many fields such as vehicle, astronavigation, rubber and coating etc. Because of low surface tension, water-repellent and oil-repellent properties of polysiloxanes modified with fluoroalkyls, they can be potentially applied as hydrophobic self-cleaning coating on the solar cell glass. So we have synthesized a series of hydro-oleophobic dopes by a combination of the hydrosilylation and sol-gel method, using hydrogen-containing polysiloxanes, fluorinated acrylates, and vinylsilane. In the first part, we have synthesized a series of fluoroalkylpolysiloxanes via the hydrosilylation reaction, using hydrogen-containing polysiloxanes as starting materials, various fluorinated acrylates as modified monomers, and vinylsilane as coupling agent. The reaction conditions involving temperature, amount of catalyst, methods of adding materials were optimized. The fluoroalkylpolysiloxanes prepared were characterized by IR and ~1H NMR spectra. In the second part, a series of hydro-oleophobic dopes with varied mole ratios were prepared using the sol-gel method, and then coated on the surface of the glass forming hydrophobic self-cleaning coatings. The properties of these coatings were studied including the contact angle, light transmittance, hardness as well as adhesion. The test results show that these hydrophobic self-cleaning coatings possess big contact angles, good light transmittance, hardness and adhesion. Such hydro-oleophobic self-cleaning dopes are suitably used in the solar cell glass, as well as other fields.
