The plate element which are welded by sheet, profiles and other steel materials are now applied in modern industrial such as metallurgy, bridge, shipbuilding, construction, mechanical engineering more and more widely, but these plate element will produce a variety of welding distortion due to the uneven heating. If the deformation can not be corrected promptly and effectively will affect the accuracy of product flatness, the overall steel structure assembly precision and quality of delivery level. The article start from the plate element which come from plane section of hull and modern U rib bridge deck, and take the flattening method of the plate element of the modern U rib bridge deck as the study object, using theoretical analysis as well as software analysis to study the flattening methods, and at last, the article proposes one new flattening method based on the analysis of roller leveler to improve the disadvantages such as lower efficiency, forming of poorer quality, poorer working conditions, larger energy consumption, and the pollution of the environment come from traditional Flame Rectification.(1) The article starts from the theory of elastic-plastic deformation and depend on site investigation as well as the understanding of the popular flattening methods, discuss the advantages and disadvantages of each flattening method. At last, the article selects the roller leveler as the flattening method of plate element.(2) According to the theory and principle of roller leveler, the article researches the process of the roller leveler technology and takes the U rib deck plate board unit as an example, Complete the design of the basic parameters of the roller leveler.(3) The article establish the plate element model of deformation flattening program with PRO/E software, and depend on the theory of elastic-plastic deformation, The article determine the power parameters of the roller leveler.(4) According to the parameter settings which come from the analytical models, the article Establishes the finite element model of the plate element in ANSYS to analysis the leveler force required and the deformation of the plate element under different reduction.The applications study of the roller leveler in the plate element which has special shape and large size has a certain degree of innovation and some reference value for achieving roller leveling to improve the disadvantages such as Lower efficiency, forming of poorer quality, poorer working conditions, larger energy consumption, and the pollution of the environment come from traditional Flame Rectification.
