SiC_p/ZL101A composites were prepared by hot-pressed sintering process (HPS) with the raw material of ZL101A powders obtained by gas atomization and SiC particles. The content of SiC particles was 10%(Volume fraction, the same below),20%,30% and 40%. Microstructure was investigated by metallographic microscope, scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy. The effect of different content of SiC particles on microstructure, mechanical properties and friction behavior were studied using scanning electron microscopy, hardness measurement and wear measurement. Moreover, the sintering densification mechanism was discussed.The compactness of SiC_p/ZL101A composites increased with sintering temperature increasing and decreased with increasing volume content of SiC particles. The hardness of SiC_p/ZL101A composites first increased and then decreased with increasing volume content of SiC particles, the hardness of SiC_p/ZL101A composites is the biggest when volume content of SiC particles is 30%. The optimum sintering temperature is 500℃and the optimum holding time is 240min. SEM showed that SiC particles distributed evenly in matrix ZL101A. TEM showed that the SiC-Al interfaces were clean and free, no interfacial reaction products was formed.Wear measurement results showed the wear mechanism of matrix ZL101A is adhesion wear. The wear of SiC_p/ZL101A composites were main adhesion wear and a little scuffing wear. With the increasing of SiC particles volume fractions, the adhesion wear was gradually reduced, which contributed to the wear resistance of SiC_p/ZL101A composites.Surface roughness and quality of Ultrasonic grinding were better than that of ordinary grinding with the same grinding parameter. Grinding surface roughness of SiC_p/ZL101A composites increased with the increasing of SiC particles volume fraction in the ultrasonic grinding and ordinary grinding.
