Nanoporous anodic aluminum oxide membranes were fabricated through a two-step anodization process. We also prepared the triangle, square, tubular porous anodic alumina templates. The morphology and structure of as prepared membranes were characterized by scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction. The results show that the porous anodic alumina membranes are of amorphous structure, the holes are highly ordered and the diameters of pores are uniform. On the other hand, the morphology of porous anodic alumina membrane were studied after being annealed. The experimental results demonstrate that the porous anodic alumina membrane are contain the components of aluminum; No significant changes of the morphology is observed after annealing up to 900℃,while the porous anodic alumina membrane begins to melt at 1100℃; the crystallization temperature of the porous anodic alumina membrane are dependent on their thickness. The highly ordered Cu nanowire arrays were prepared in the porous alumina template with being thinned the barrier layer through the electrodeposition of constant voltage. SEM and XRD investigations demonstrate that these Cu nanowires are of face-centered cubic structure. Their diameter is about 65nm and the length is about 15μm which are consistent with those of the porous anodic alumina template respectively.
