There are two parts in this thesis, one is the iron -catalyzed synthesis of acridine derivatives from 2-(phenylamino) benzaldehyde derivatives, and the other is the zinc-catalyzed synthesis of 2,3-dihydrofurans.In part one, a convenient iron-catalyzed synthesis of acridine derivatives from 2-(phenylamino) benzaldehyde derivatives is developed. This protocol can provide an effective methodology for the preparation of acridine derivatives. Ten desired products were synthesized with yields from 40% to 79%. All new compounds were characterized by 1H NMR,13C NMR and HRMS spectroscopy.In part two, an effective method for zinc-catalyzed synthesis of 2,3-dihydrofurans was developed Eight designed derivatives were synthesized with the yields from 24% to 71%. All the compounds were characterized by 1H and 13C NMR and HRMS spectroscopy.
