Coordination polymers, with interesting magnetism, mechanics, optics and electronic properties, are one of the hot research areas of coordination chemistry. A series of phosphonate and Schiff base ligands and their complexes have been synthetized. The compsiton, crystal structures, related properties of their complexes have been investigated. This thesis is divided into four parts:1. The background of this work is concisely introduced with the emphasis on the current survey of coordination polymers, lanthanide fluorescence and peroxide compound.2. Phosphonate ligand L1 and its complexes of lanthanide have been synthesized. The structures are characterized by single crystal X-ray diffractions. The changes of their structures along with lanthanide ions radii are analyzed. The fluorescent properties of the Sm3+, Eu3+, Tb3+ and Dy3+ complexes have been investigated.3. Phosphonate ligand L1, L2 and L3 and their complexes of transition metal ions have been synthesized. The structures are characterized by single crystal X-ray diffractions. The changes of their structures along with metal ions radii and substituent groups are analyzed.4. A series of flexible Schiff base ligands and their complexes of lanthanide have been synthesized. The process of adsorption and desorption of Oxygen and the oxidation activity have been investigated.
