The Evaluation And Prediction Of Ecological Carrying Capacity Of Zhangye In Gansu Province

With the accelerated pace of development of world economic, it has been found that the ecological crisis caused by predatory exploitation of natural resources for a long time now is an important factor in restricting sustainable economics'development. In order to maintain regional ecological security, promote harmony between man and nature, keep rapid and healthy development of economy and society, pursue the goals of sustainable development, measuring the carrying capacity of the ecological environment (CCEE) of a country or region is very important. To do this, we select the northwestern city——Zhangye as a sample. Measuring the CCEE of Zhangye couldn't only help us have a good understanding of the status of the ecological environment of this city, propose some useful advices for governments' policies to promote the coordinated development of economy and natural environment but also provide guides for other parts of western regions to assess ecological environment.The dissertation has five parts. The first part introduces the research background and research status of CCEE; the second part introduces the concept of CCEE, research methods; The third part analyze the ecological environment and problems of Zhangye; In the fourth part, we choose ecological footprint form many methods of ecological carrying capacity to calculate the ecological carrying capacity of Ganzhou and Zhangye in 2008 and analyze the reasons for the results, moreover compare Ganzhou to Zhangye.at last we predict and analyze the needs of ecological footprint of Zhangye in the future (2008-2020); In the fifth section, we put forward some appropriate suggestions for achieving regional coordination and harmonious development and enhancing ecological carrying capacity of Zhangye.
