Corn processing industry consumes large quantities of water and produces a amount of waste water with high organic concentration. Advanced treatment and reuse of corn processing wastewater have very important significance for the conservation of water resource, the protection of the ecological environment and the reduction of the production cost.In this paper, the treatment of corn processing wastewater with membrane bioreactor and chemical coagulation was studied. The results showed that CODcr and ammonia nitrogen were eliminated efficiently by single-stage aeration MBR. The average concentrations of effluent CODCr and ammonia nitrogen were 53.1 and 1.29 mg/L, and the removal rates were 92.9% and 93.0% respectively. But the removal efficiency of TN and TP was limited.46.7% of TN and 41.6% of TP were removed. To treat the effluent of MBR with chemical coagulation, the suitable operation conditions were as follows:pH was 7 and the dosage of PAC and PAM were 1ml/L and 4 mg/L.After chemical coagulation,98.0% of TP,41.7% of colourity and 10.9% of CODCr can be removed. The concentration of TP can be reduced to 0.36mg/L. In the process of coagulation, dosing zeolite and blast furnace slag was not helpful for the removal efficiency of pollutants.Using MBR and chemical coagulation, corn processing wastewater can be treated stably and effectively, and pollutants discharged would be reduced. With the help of reverse osmosis, the effluent can be used as circulating cooling water.
