In the environment of energy conservation and emission reduction all around world, the usage of light alloys are needed in great quantity, for example, magnesium alloy. At the same time, it makes increasing requirement for die-casting forming process of these alloys. With the quick change of development in computer, CAD/CAE/CAM begin to be the main direction in die-casting process development. Regarding traditional die casting process as theoretical foundation, this paper used tension and impact sample of magnesium alloy as main study object, and made development and design of thick-wall casting based on Pro/E and CAE. An choosing simulated parameter method of CAE matched by die casting process and properties of die-casting machine using PQ~2 was proposed.By means of collecting temperature change during the solidification by setting control point of the cooling curve, we optimized program via solidification effects reflected under different cooling program, which is convenient for us to observe of effect injection speed on filling and solidification procedure. We designed three kinds of two staged die-casting experiment with different speeds in the field of time and ingate section area . Three programs were simulated respectively with the same initial and boundary condition. The effect of filling speed was expressed by tracer particles, filling speed and solidification percentage. Meanwhile defect, temperature and fluid field of the cast were showed using various analysis method and views. The results show that it is better for the filling speed to be slow in order to avoid the increase of metal turbulence in the mould and reduce air content involved in molten metal, that is to say there will be less the volum of shrinkage cavity and porosity , which ensure the quality of the cast.CAE has thoroughly changed the uncertainty and non-repeatability of die-casting technology during making process. It also ensures the success ratio and quality of the cast, which can shorten developing period, reduce cost and is important for enterprise to enhance producing level and competitiveness.
