â…¡-â…¥group semiconductor materials CdTe, ZnTe and CdZnTe have important application in photovoltaic fields such as solar cells due to their suitable band gap and high absorption coefficient. In this paper, CdTe, ZnTe and CdZnTe micro/nanostructures were prepared via vacuum thermal evaporation and chemical vapor deposition. The main contents are following:First, novel ZnTe spiral hyperbranched nanostructures were synthesized through vacuum thermal evaporation technique. The combination of vapor-liquid-solid (VLS) mechanism and screw-dislocation-driven mechanism leads to form of the complex and interesting morphology. Besides, we prepared several ZnTe wire-like micro/nanostructures through altering related experimental conditions.Second, we obtained CdTe nanostructures with different crystal structure and morphology via vacuum thermal evaporation. The effects of deposition temperature on crystal structure of CdTe nanostructures were studied.Third, single-crystalline ultralong CdTe micron wires were synthesized in a horizontal tube furnace using a mixture of CdTe and Bi powder as source materials. The room-temperature photoluminescence (PL) spectrum shows the CdTe wires have a narrow photoluminescence peak at 778nm.Last, composition-tunnable CdxZn1-xTe (x=0.85, 0.8, 0.78, 0.5, 0.4) ternary branched nanostructures were prepared successfully via vacuum thermal evaporation.
