Waste heat is the unreasonable utilization sensible and(or) latent heat of the energy consumption devices which have already been put into operation, because of the limitations of history, technology, concepts etc. It includes the hot flue gas waste heat, cooling medium heat, waste heat, high temperature steam wastewater products and slag waste heat, chemical eaction waste heat, flammable gas liquid and waste heat, etc. According to investigation, the waste heat accounts for 17-67%of the total amount of fuel consumption, and over 60%could be recovered. Therefore, It is very important to design recovery equipment reasonable for recycling of waste heat resources in chemical industry.In this paper, some of key design problems of the main recovered heat exchanger of Purified Terephthalic Acid equipments have been studied. They are can be listed as follows.First, the process design of the heat exchanger has been conducted according to the design conditions. We have determined the design and checking methods for this special heat exchangers, and the process design and checking had been done by hand computation and HTRI software. Constrasts found that the error between these two methods is within 10%, which also proved the hand computation methods is validity and availability.Second, the fluid-induced vibration of the bundle has been studied according to actual conditions, and the HTRI software has been used to recalculate and check. The results show that the heat exchanger under the design condition meets the standard requirments of the bundle induced vibration.Third, ANSYS software has been used to 3D finite element analyse of the tilted conical shell of the exchanger, and the local stress intensity checking has been conducted according to the JB4732-1995(Steel pressure Vessels——Design by analysis).The design and check of the main recovered heat exchanger of Purified Terephthalic Acid equipments have been accomplished in this paper, which are based on the studies of the key problems of the heat exchanger.These analysis results could provide a strong theoretical basis for design and application of the same kinds of tilted conical shell heat exchangers.
