Chinese coal resource is abundant, but high grade coal resource is limited. Such coalresources as high quality coking coal can not meet the industrial needs. This situation isseriously restricting China's coking industry and the development of iron and steel industry, it isnecessary to expand the resources of coking coal. As a result of coking coal in China account fora large proportion of gas coal, but the amount of fat coal, coking coal and Lean coal accountedfor less than half of coking coal reserves, so coking with gas coal can save high quality cokingcoal resources to meet the coking industry and the sustainable development of the iron and steelindustry.Based on the using of coal of Wuhan Iron and Steel Company, this paper studies the stampcharged coking. By using stamping coke technic in the experiments with the 4 single coals, including gas fat coal, fat coal, 1/3 coking coal and coking coal, and 6 blended coal. To find outhow stacking density and the nature of the coal can impact the coke quality. The results showthat in stamping coke, whether it is single coal or blended coal, the impact of stacking density tocoke quality is significant. Ash content and sulfur content exceptionally, other indicators of coke, with the increase of stacking density, showed a parabola. When the coal is constant, differentcoke quality index has a corresponding optimal stacking density. The optimum density dependson the nature of coal into the furnace. With 6 blended coal of this study program, the beststacking density is between 0.951.05 t/m3. Under optimum density, cold mechanical strength ofcoke is essentially the same, force seems to be the controlling factors of mechanical strength ofcoke. In the stamping coke, the nature of the coal is still the controlling factors of coke quality, especially on coke thermal properties. For this study on 6 blended options:M10= 8.0037+0.7624Vd 0.0878G R2=0.6268 (3.8) M25=96.7846 0.4459Vd+0.0349G R2=0.7482 (3.9) CRI= 77.4241+1.9527Vd 0.0795G+17.0087MCI R2=0.7998 (3.10) CSR=135.8791 0.9190Vd+0.1353G 21.2101MCI R2=0.7861 (3.11)We can see that under the conditions of the tamping coke, lower the volatile matter of coal, and appropriate increase in the bond of coal is still an effective way to improve the quality ofcoke.
