Cone concentrator and Fan-shaped chute are both weakly turbulent flowing film gravity concentration equipments, they have the same separation principle and their separation parameter is similar. Cone concentrator test is hard to put into effect because of too much sample needed,big test site,many experiment people and strong work, but Fan-shaped chute test is easy to carry out because of short sample needed,common laboratory,small work,therefore,this paper studys the feasibility on the Fan-shaped chute test instead of cone concentrator test, then the cone concentrator test can be completed efficiently, and getting the cone concentrator separation parameter easyly.We design and make new optimization fan-shaped chute according to the features of the separation cone of cone concentrator, so the optimization fan-shaped chute can get more approximate effect with the cone concentrator test. The characteristics of the new Fan-shaped chute are that: the chute is curved surface, and the concentration is got by the width open in the chute.The separation test sample is the titanomagnetite magnetic separation tailings in Panzhihua, Sichuan. The separation test based on the inside flowsheet of the 3DSD cone concentrator includes the rougher condition test,scavenger condition test,cleaner condition test and the cleaner condition test of the common pinched sluice, the separation parameters are ensured finally by tests, the closed circuit test results of the Fan-shaped chute group are as follows: enrichment ratio is 2.12,TiO2 recovery is 61.35%. The 3DSD separation test is made early years to the similar sample, the result is: enrichment ratio is 2.18, TiO2 recovery is 57.44%.Comparison the test results of new optimization fan-shaped chute group and 3DSD cone concentrator, it is known that: the enrichment ratio of new optimization fan-shaped chute group is 2.12, the enrichment ratio of 3DSD cone concentrator is 2.18, their enrichment ratios are similar; the concentrate recovery of new optimization fan-shaped chute group and Cone concentrator is 61.34%,60.04% respectively , the concentrate recovery is similar too, therefore, optimization fan-shaped chute group achieves the separation efficiency of cone concentrator, and the optimization fan-shaped chute group can be used to replace cone concentrator for laboratory simulation tests.
