Vertical centrifugal concentrator mainly refers to applying for the separation recyclingtarget minerals at home and abroad of a new type of high efficiency centrifugal gravityseparation equipment. The device utilizates the centrifugal design of the gravity field, toachieve several times, even hundreds of times the gravitational acceleration, simultaneously,combined with the theory of flow film separation of gravity separation equipment to separateminerals. The technology of centrifugal separation reduces the size lower limit of recyclablemineral particle of gravity separation, helps us to maximize recovery of minerals from thenatural resources and reutilization of tailings, especially in dealing with poor, fine, complexand other refractory mineral, plays an unique advantages in pollution-free, energy-efficient.The commercial application of high efficiency centrifugal concentrator for improvingworkers’ labour conditions, guaranteeing the rapid development of China’s mining andpromoting efficient use of mineral resources is of great significance.The key technology of vertical centrifugal concentrator is on the centrifugal cone part,the paper is on the basis of Knelson concentrator to explore the separation principle, and carryout structure analysis and flow field dynamics analysis of the centrifugal cone. Mainly in thefollowing aspects:First, it established a three-dimensional model of Knelson concentrator, then analyzedthe separation mechanism and working principles.Second, discussed the distribution law of slurry flow film in tangential, axial and radial,and analysis of the dynamics of particles in slurry.Third, utilizating finite element analysis software to carry out the statics and dynamicsanalysis of the centrifugal cone. Then by simple comparison, to illustrates the rationality ofthe centrifugal cone structure.Fourth, using computational fluid dynamics analysis software to simulate the slurry flowfield, obtained the distribution laws of velocity and pressure field, and discussed the influenceof single variable on the separation performance.Finally, through the simple tests, analyzed the impact of single process parameters onseparation efficiency.Through the analysis and research, we could be fully aware of the separation mechanism of the centrifugal concentrator, it could provide the reference for equipment in design andimprovement.
