With the fast develop of defense industry and advanced manufacturing technology, the requirements of measuring precision of rotary parts increase higher and higher and also made higher demands for measuring efficiency. When using cylindricity measuring instrument to perform precision measurement of rotary parts, in order to ensure the measuring precision and measuring efficiency, a precise filtering method should be used and precision centering and tilting adjustment should be performed before measurement. Therefore, in this paper, a precision filtering method for circular profile has been designed and an automatic centering and tilting method has been designed for a four degree automatic adjustment table developed by our team.Firstly, starting from the measurement principle of cylindricity measuring instrument, according to the measurement model of circular profile and cylindrical profile, the actual distribution of the sampling angle on workpiece surface has been analyzed, and a filtering technology suitable for circular profile with larger eccentric has been given. Compared with traditional methods, the filtering error has been reduced significantly.Secondly, According to mechanical structure of the four degree automatic adjustment worktable, the coupling between the eccentric adjustment and tilt adjustment has been analyzed. By using the minimal coupling characteristic of the spherical center cross-section, an automatic centering and tilting method has been designed.Thirdly, Based on the simulation and software implementation of measurement model and filtering method, an automatic centering and tilting software has been designed for a cylindricity measuring instrument developed by our team which implemented automatic centering for circular profile measurement and automatic centering and tilting for cylindricity profile measurement.Finally, experimental analysis has been taken on the four degree automatic adjustment worktable. The pulse coefficient and linearity of the micro-displacement driving unit has been test. Direction of the adjustment axis and the height of the spherical center cross-section have been calibrated. The automatic centering method has been verified through the experiment of centering an elliptical standard and automatic centering and tilting method has been verified through the experiment of centering and tilting a cylindrical standard. Experimental results show that the eccentricity of the elliptical standard can be adjusted to less than 100nm and the axial line tilt angle of the cylindrical standard can be adjusted to less than 0.3".
