Quinolines and their derivatives occur in numerous natural products, and represent a wide spectrum of favorable biological activities. The quinoline, di- and tetrahydroquinoline, and oxoquinoline moieties are found in a large number of medicinal interesting compounds. Many methods for the synthesis of quinolines are known, but due to their importance, the development of new synthetic approaches using mild reaction conditions and taintless raw material remains an active research area.We describe a simple, economical, and effective procedure for the synthesis of quinolines that involves normal propanol and aniline with the heterogeneous catalyst could provide access to a upstanding reactive result.(1) This research execute the theoretical study of the thermodynamic, and it confirmed that the reaction can occur spontaneously.(2) Prepared variety of metal -modified zeolite catalyst, such as M-Y, M-USY, M-SAB-15, etc, and via several of characterization techniques (XRD,FT-IR,TPD) to execute the catalyst research.(3) The cyclization can be activated in the presence of an acid catalyst, and the shape- selective effect of the framework of zeolite has a great influence on the reaction effect.(4) By experimental research, USY catalyst shows the best catalytic effect. In the raction of normal propanol and aniline, Fe/USY was used as the Cat., and the 2-ethyl-4-methyl-Quinline was obtained with a yield of 69%. Based on the research of our lab, we confirmed that variety of quinoline derivatives could be compound by change the reactant in the similar reaction system.
