Ball valves have been widely used in the petrochemical industry and energy industry. To resist high temperature, heavy pressure, thermal shock in the working condition, the ball valve was sprayed by the high hardness coating material such as WC-Co. The surface hardness of the coating material can reach HRC62 after spraying. The wide use of WC-Co high hardness coating material brings great challenge to the processing technologies.Therefore, a new method for solving the problem mentioned above was thus proposed in the article. In this research, the perspective of grinding high hardness coating spherical material was explored through theoretical research, experimental verification, and simulation and so on.An overview of domestic and foreign scholars'study on the machining of high hardness coating material and optimization of grinding parameters were firstly presented. On the basis of these theories, theoretical and experiental research of grinding parameters and grinding forces were carried out.An orthogonal experiment was designed for experimental study on spherical grinding of WC-Co coating by bowl wheel. Experimental results reveal the principles and phenomena of grinding high hardness coating sphere.Based the theoretical and experimental research mentioned above, a model for optimization of grinding surface roughness and a predicton model of grinding forces were established based on improved BP neural network. Optimization of the grinding parameters was thus achieved.An adaptive dynamic control method was presented in the last part of the paper. The fuzzy control system for the dynamic parameters optimization of the high hardness spherical grinding was designed. Experimental study and simulation were respectively performed.
