Efficiency casting slab straightening technology not only gains much attention from experts both at home and abroad but also becomes the hot spot in casting area. The straightening technology develops through single-point straightening, multi-points straightening, VAI continuous straightening, CONCAST continuous straightening and new straightening technologies such as fix strain rate continuous straightening with fixed rollers. The casting curve has very important influence on casting slab's quality and this is why we give research on it.This paper analyzes the results of previous studies, points out the defects of CONCAST straightening curve and improve on it, in terms of the algorithm of straightening curve, replace horizontal projection of corresponding circular arc with circular arc's tangent. Analyzing the linear flexural moment influence on the arc section of casting slab from mechanical point of view, we get a new straightening curve with considering the sensible distribution of strain. The new straightening curve is a ideal and smooth curve with no curvature break.By the application of finite element analysis software Marc, we build models with Concast straightening curve and the new straightening curve, according to parameters of a slab casting machine in one company. The process of straightening of two models are successfully simulated the casting slab's temperature, strain and stress values which provide date for further study are also recorded through the whole process. Comparing the force conditions of casting slab between Concast straightening model and the new straightening curve model, we find that the latter which improved force condition is better and it means that the new straightening curve is more reasonable. The results of this paper not only provides a theoretical basis for research on new straightening curve but also provide a reference for both transformation of the existing continuous caster and new caster's design.
