Mineral oils are the principal contaminations in water environment and the water resource is very limit, so it is very important that the quality of water is monitored and polluted water is processed. Fluorescence optical-fiber sensor is one of the hot-spot problems in the field of modern optical fiber sensor technology. It checks the concentration of measured materials by measuring the fluorescence spectral characteristic.First of all, the basic principle and characteristic of fluorescence measurement method are discussed. Three-Dimensional fluorescence spectrum technique has been developed for several years as a new method, which had the prominent virtue that it contains abundance information and it can increase the data-processing method selectivity.Using FS920 high performance steady state fluorimeter, excitation and emission spectra of self-confected fuel solutions are measured. Based on fluorescence principle and its measurement technique, many kinds of mineral oils such as petrol, diesel and kerosene oil were detected and researched in excitation–emission fluorescence scanning experiments. And then, the principle method and step of Three-Dimensional fluorescence spectrum technology are provided. It analyzed property of Three-Dimensional fluorescence spectrum of the kinds of mineral oils. and gets the results by using Matlab programming soft. Through analyzing, ranges of excitation wavelength and emission wavelength for three-dimensional fluorescence analysis are selected.In the data processing of the three-dimensional fluorescence spectra of a variety of mineral oils-water mixture, the three-dimensional fluorescence spectra of mineral oil authentication scheme is proposed which based on the feature extraction method and BP neural network.Base on the mechanism of fluorescence, according to the spectral characteristics of the measured mineral oil, the fluorescence measurement system is designed. Pulsed xenon lamp is used as the excitation source, and the linear array CCD is used to detect the weak fluorescence signal. The amplifier and the lowpass filter circuit is designed and the results is shown after being processed by the microcontroller.According to the key techniques are analyzed deeply, all this can be used as the basis of theory and experiment for oil contamination measurement.
