Computers were begun to use the field of rolling load distribution since World War II, the higher and higher demands are put forward not only for the quality of cold rolling plate and strip products but also for the process of tandem cold rolling. The traditional method of relying on experience to carry on rolling load distribution can not meet the needs of the modern steel rolling production, the reasonable optimized load distribution is fundamental guarantee of making full use of the capacity of rolling equipment,saving on energy and reducing consumption,meeting the quality requirements of plate and sheet products.Therefore, there is important engineering applications value by using artificial intelligence technology to optimize tandem cold rolling mills load distribution. In this paper, based on the engineering practice of 1450mm five stand tandem cold rolling mill in a certain steel plant, these theories of artificial intelligence optimization were used to 1450 mm five stand tandem cold rolling mill load distribution and make load distribution optimal through theoretical research. Based on the analysis of technical parameters of this mill, mathematical models that can meet production needs of this mill were established.One kind of relative modes was employed for more intuitive operation and more flexible adjusting scheme in the paper, that is mode of rolling force distribution ratio, this is also the load distribution mode that international advanced rolling enterprises usually adopt, and the operator also prefer. Firstly, rolling load distribution was optimized by using basic ant colony algorithm, reduction ratio of every engine frame was defined as ant colony optimization parameters, optimization results were obtained; and then basic ant colony algorithm were improved in five aspects, rolling load distribution of this tandem cold rolling mill was optimized by using improved ant colony algorithm, the optimal load distribution was obtained through loop computation of improved ant colony algorithm. Simulated results show that the improved ant colony algorithm has fast program execution, good astringency, accurate optimal value and can effectively prevent object function value from local minimum. This method can be applied to real manufacture as a new load distribution optimization method of tandem cold mill.The feasibility that rolling load distribution was optimized by using ant colony immune algorithm is demonstrated since the ant colony algorithm is inadequate, and rolling load distribution has been optimized by using ant colony immune algorithm. Finally, the results of the three optimization methods were listed together to compare. Optimization results show that ant colony immune algorithm has good convergence,higher optimization precision.Ant colony immune algorithm can be applied in practical production.
