Multilateral horizontal well technique is a newly technique in petroleum industry, is animportant means to development the oil and gas fields and enhance oil recovery. Numericalsimulation can be used as a means of quantities forecast and analysis, which can providenecessary theory basis and guidance scheme for development of Multilateral horizontal well.Using the numerical simulation software of ECLIPSE, this paper described thehorizontal herringbone well. First, through the simulation, it have analyzed the flowcharacteristics of the horizontal herringbone well, the contents mainly includes thedistribution of the pressure of reservoir and the distribution of the pressure and production onthe main branch well bore. On this basis, this paper has carried out the optimization researchon this parameters what can affect the horizontal herringbone well pattern. The principle isthat with branch number, branch distance and separate angle increasing, production ofmultilateral well also increases, but the increases contribute to production decreasing, So wecan get the best branch distance, separate angle and branch number from the respective ofeconomy. Besides that, in that other variables are the same, development effect of thebranches with mosaic distribution is better than branches with symmetric distribution.Influential factors of productivity of herringbone well are further analyzed. Anisotropy offormation and the range of vertical permeability are included in these factors. Besides that,vertical position of herringbone well is optimized, and it is concluded that vertical position ofherringbone well must be away from oil/water interface. Then parameters'sensitivity isanalyzed and validated. At last, well pattern of herringbone well is simply analyzed andscreened. In addition, the effect of vertical well as injector and horizontal well as injector iscompared on the basis of herringbone well as producing well.
