Heavy oil has the characteristics of high oil density, huge viscosity and high contents of colloid and asphaltene. This paper researched on the viscosity break and demulsification of ChenNan heavy oil to solve the problem about transportation of heavy crude oil in pipelines and well-bores. And also, the paper furthered to study the effects of parameters on viscosity break and demulsification.First, the physical properties of ChenNan heavy oil including oil density, pour point and phase inversion point have been determined. Through the viscosity reduction experiments we can draw the conclusion that at the same temperature, the more light oil mixed in the higher the viscosity reduction rate would be; The effect of viscosity reduction at low temperature is obviously better than it at high temperature; The ruler of different moisture content heavy oil of viscosity reduction by mixing light oil is almost same.Under the ratio of oil and water is 7:3,70℃, through optimizing the emulsifier the viscosity break for JY-A3T can reach 97.7%.The effects on the apparent viscosity of emulsion fluid by emulsifier concentration, emulsifier temperature, mixing time and mixing intensity have been studied at the same time. Besides, the emulsification condition also has enormous effect on the rheological of emulsion fluid. The conclusion results from the analysis of the microphotograph pictures is that emulsion fluid non -Newtonian properties intensifies as the particle diameter of oil in dispersed phase reduces and the distribution equality rises .Viscosity break process will also affects following dehydration technology process. From the experiment results, it has been found that the mixing light oil viscosity reduction and emulsification viscosity reduction technique are both able to promote the dehydration effect of the following dehydration technology process. The factors such as the demulsifier type, pH value, demulsifier concentration, demulsification temperature, mixing light oil rate, demulsification time all have effects on the demulsification result. The corresponding demulsification methods and perfect demulsification conditions have been found according to the two different kinds of viscosity reduction methods. The cost of all the viscosity reduction progress reduces as the decrease of the demulsification expenses.
